I find it very adequate for my needs, it syncs nicely with my PC with all the Office apps. I had a problem with my HP111 when new, the battery would discharge rapidly and the case would be very warm. My personal data is protected with an easy to use password unlock feature. I sent it back to HP and it was fixed under warranty and is working OK now. HP was easy to work with and I had it back within one week. I keep about 4G of music on a SD chip and the sound quality is comparable to my iPod. I would have given it a 5 except that I cannot find any games to work with it.
He promised to give me a refund for my postage ($19). The product did not arrive the next day. I purchased a PDA and paid extra to get the product deliver the next day. I was on my way out the door when the man called. I received a phone call from Amazon.com as I soon as I posted my previous opinion. The man who called me was very defensive about my review. He promised to contact me in the afternoon to show me via internet how to get my refund. I did not receive a call back, nor received a refund.
The new unit is working fine. I'll be honest; the first iPAQ111 I had was a horrible. I had been a Palm user for a long time and found I had to switch to something else when I upgraded to a Windows Vista system. I sync with no problems between it and my laptop. It was a refurbished model that I think wasn't quite up to snuff. It died an early death so after some researching I decided to get a new iPAQ111. My only caution is to avoid getting a refurbished model. spend the bucks to get a new one.
I didn;t want a cell phone, blackberry, camera, a multitude of applications, I just wanted a simple Personal Digital Assistant like my stolen PDA. Because of unfortunate circumstances (my PDA was stolen while visiting Paris), I had to seek a replacement. I brought the HP iPAQ 111 after reading all of the literature I could find on it and any Palm products. The "Contact" features the iPAQ 111 does not measure up to the features offered by the Visor. HP should develop their own backup software to replace the MS Outlook spplication which is very anemic compared to the software provided by Palm.
No matter how I set up with my ISP, incoming/outgoing email messages fail to Send or Receive. I purchased my HP iPAC 111 two months ago from Amazon.com. I located the User's Guide (114 pages approximately) on the product CD and printed it. I find messaging very difficult to use, if not messaging through MS Outlook. Had hoped to leave the hand held attached so it would charge up when the desktop was on but that's a no go. I almost had a catasterstroke when I observed that the Guide pages were not numbered which makes the Table of Contents and Index useless.
Synchronizing worked good from the get-go between my hand held and my desktop. I'm from the old school and prefer a printed User's Guide. I will have to call in "for pay help" with this issue. I spent a couple of days numbering all pages then applied these page numbers to the Table of Contents and the Index pages. Now I have a usable User's Guide. My desktop does not like the hand held being attached (USB) when I power it up.
Overall the HP iPAC 111 seems very functional.
